The China HIV/AIDS Information Network has developed out of a need to share information on current HIV/AIDS research and care and prevention activities amongst HIV/AIDS researchers and professional groups in China. An immediate concern is the need for greater access to the information exchange with international HIV/AIDS researchers and professional groups.

There are a number of HIV/AIDS Care and Prevention projects in China that are funded by the international donor community with out any coordination of the results of these activities.
One recognised need amongst those working in the field is the need to reach out and share the knowledge to enable Chinese health professionals involved in HIV/AIDS projects to gain fully from the multiplicity of project outcomes.

The China HIV/AIDS Information Network website aims to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and research amongst individuals and organisations with interest and expertise in HIV/AIDS issues, thus fostering links and collaboration on projects between Australian and Chinese research and educators and others in the field of HIV/AIDS care and prevention activities.
